Englsih Vinglish [Comdey / Drama] (5/5)

English Vinglish : Language no bar
Every film stands for an idea, a notion, a story, a thought; something that filmmaker wants to tell the audience. How faithful the film sticks to this idea - in it's language, and through it's duration - is a measure of how good and how successful the film is. English Vinglish has a very simple premise. A housewife founds herself inferior to her more educated husbands and kids, her self esteem in direct proportion to her knowledge in English. Without their knowledge, she masters the language, and in the process discovers she is equal to all and inferior to none. That's the story. Nothing Less, nothing more.

The character played by Sridevi is awesomely written and focus on main theme- it never makes it dramatic nor boring. Even at the climax as an audience you will feel that she must vent out and shock people but again she handles it with humility and sweetness. It's a great movie straight away made with honesty by Gauri Shinde and what a comeback of Sridevi.
Just loved it.

OMG: Oh My God ! - A Real Act Of God...

OMG is a movie made out of a famous play by Paresh Rawal- Kishen vs. Kanaihya. It's a story about a middle class show owners who sells old stuffs and god's idols but doesn't believe in god. He has god fearing family and people around him but he always make fun of what people do in the name of god worship.
He also disrupts a local festival in order to get his son away from the celebration. The Hindu priest presiding over the function, Siddheshwar Maharaj, shouts at him and says that "God will curse you". That night a small earthquake occurs in Mumbai, but there are no damages at all to property or life - except for Kanji Bhai's shop, which has been destroyed completely. He somehow has insurance papers saved and goes to insurance company for claims and being told that the policy does not cover any damage caused by earthquakes, which are classified as an Act Of God. He is shattered as he lost everything and then the idea occurs that if this is an act of god whom his family devoted and given a lot he better sue God and claim his loss.
Next day he files a petition and send notices to all so called God's representative all saints and ashrams and drags them into court.... and drama continues.
The movie plot may sounds funny and baseless but the way it is built and highlighted the blind faith in religion and all fake saints who takes our money and has nothing to do with God. It shocks you and every element of movie represent true examples. The movie stars Akshay Kumar as lord krishna which makes movie more interesting and shows exactly what could be God's point of view.
Its an excellent movie and deliver the message, especially for our country where millions is being wasted through the hands of poor people on religious practice which does no good.
A Must Watch !!!

Barfi ! - Full of sweetness
Barfi is a romantic comedy film made by Anurag Basu, a story about a dumb-mute guy called Murphy, played by Ranbir Kapoor. This movie is about his life and his love story. Barfi, who belongs to Darjeeling is a simple, happy, go lucking guy who takes life as it comes. He spreads happiness and always remain happy and connects will all beauties of world. He fall in love with Kolkata Girl Shruti played by Ileana D'souza but couldn't get married to her because he is poor and handicapped. Barfi try to kidnap her to get some money for his father's kidney operation and in same situation he spends time with Jhilmil and falls in love.
This uniqueness of this movie that the story is as simple but can't be relish unless you watch and experience it. It travels between 1970s/80s and current time with it's flashback story and take you throuogh a relishing journey of the character BARFI !
The screenplay done superbly and editing is marvelous, the way Anurag has expressed this story by shifting flashbacks and narration is simply commendable. The movie is perfect from all aspects; be it direction, editing, amazing cinematography and not miss- awesome performance by each and every character defines. It makes you feel belief that this si a real story with real people.
I loved Ranbir Kapoor for is flawless performance and admire his selection of movies and Priyanka Chopra just raised the bar way above for any female actor to achieve. Ileana, Saurabh Shukla and all other cahacters are just perfect. For me Barfi is a hope that india cinema is not noise, item numbers and stardom- it is about saying simple story with conviction and honesty.
I am just spellbound, this is the movie worth keeping it as collection and yes, I wish Barfi- all the best for Academy Award.
